Welcome to my USS CHARLES R. WARE DD-865 website!
We were Destroyermen serving aboard the finest ship in the fleet. We were trained and molded into a force to be feared on the sea and under.
Now we are older and left to our memories. Our ship has suffered the indignity of being sunk as a target. Sleek new warships, with men and women, now protect us and our country from tyranny.
It is my hope that through this site, we can once more gather aboard our beloved ship and with pictures and stories, take just one more cruise.....

"A destroyer is a lovely ship, probably the nicest fighting ship of all. Battleships are a little like steel cities or great factories of destruction. Aircraft carriers are floating flying fields. Even cruisers are big pieces of machinery, but a destroyer is all ship. In the beautiful clean lines of her, in her speed and roughness, in her gallantry she is completely a ship in the old sense." -- John Steinbeck
